Exams and Second Opinion Consultations

At Camino Al Norte Animal Hospital, our staff wants you to be able to enjoy your pets for as long as possible.  Preventative care is one of the most important ways to achieve that goal and because your pets age faster than we do, bi-annual physical exams are recommended and more often with pets that have any ongoing medical conditions.

During a routine wellness exam, your pet’s doctor may discuss:

  • Intestinal parasite screening and prevention
  • Flea and tick prevention
  • Heartworm screening and prevention
  • Which vaccines are necessary and risk factors, if any, associated with vaccinations
  • Vaccine titers to assess whether your pet is still covered by previous vaccines
  • Dental care and preventative dental maintenance
  • Weight management and nutritional counseling
  • Behavior counseling
  • Blood work/urinalysis to identify any possible health concerns
  • X-rays to screen for arthritis
  • Skin related issues and other dermatology related concerns
  • Senior wellness profiles: diagnostics, diet, environmental health and wellness
  • Blood work/urinalysis to identify any possible health concerns
  • Hospice, quality of life assessments and euthanasia

If you notice any irregularities with your pet, we recommend taking detailed notes and bring them with you to your pet’s appointment.
